Peer Massage
Peer massage is part of the curriculum in many Scandinavian countries. Children massage each other through light clothing, on the back, shoulders and arms. Short stories and rhymes are told through the use of massage routines, so that peer massage is an ideal tool for multi sensory learning. Children with special needs respond particularly well.
The role of the adult is to facilitate the session, and the children are taught that they must ask and receive permission before going ahead. In this way they learn about positive and negative touch, and to take control of their bodies.
Peer massage can be used in schools, youth groups such as Brownies and Guides, Cubs and Scouts and routines can last as little as five minutes. TEL training includes basic anatomy and physiology, permission from parents, creating massage routines and health and safety issues. The training lasts about six hours and can be delivered as a full CPD day, or in separate sessions according to your needs. Please see the price list for details.
